New York City is one of the largest cities in the United States, so you might not know where to start if you are a first time visitor. Here’s a list of must-do’s if you find yourself in the big apple.
1. Artichoke Basille’s Pizza
If you are looking to try a New York style slice, this is the restaurant for you. They have three different locations throughout the city, a miniature chain of sorts, and are open until 3am for the perfect late night craving. Artichoke is perfect for the first time visitor who doesn’t know where to start when it comes to pizza.
2. Top of the Rock
If you want to see the best view of New York City, going to the top of the Rockefeller Center is a must. Including both indoor and outdoor observation decks, you will get an unobstructed panoramic view of the city from 70 stories above ground.
3. Broadway
If you are visiting New York, you have to treat yourself to seeing a show on Broadway. It is a mesmerizing experience for any theater goer, even if you are not a Broadway buff. Some personal favorites are: Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Waitress, Wicked, and The Book of Mormon to name a few.
4. Chelsea Market
Located in the Meatpacking District, Chelsea Market offers a premiere food and retail marketplace. It puts an emphasis on not only supporting local businesses, but supporting local workers and the use of fresh ingredients. The market is frequented by locals and tourists alike. So, if you are wanting to explore more like a native New Yorker, this is a spot you need to check out.
5. Staten Island Ferry
Instead of falling into the tourist trap that is the Statue of Liberty Ferry, opt for taking a relaxing ride on the Staten Island Ferry instead. It is completely free and will give you breathtaking views of the Statue of Liberty and the southern point of Manhattan. Ferry boats make trips about every 25 minutes, so there is always an opportunity to take in the scenery.
